The Triple Filter Test

Lately in my Facebook timeline, I am seeing how people really easy to share news, picture, or information that they don't even bother to check or clarify before they start to click the share button. The most annoying post for me is always about racial and religion hatred topic. I know I can simply un-follow them, but I do really hope they perform some internal filter or research before share anything in social media.

Yesterday I bump into a nice article about "The Triple Filter Test" by Socrates, I think it's quite nice thing to share. Here's the story about it.
---
In ancient Greece, Socrates [S] was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance [A] met the great philosopher
A: "Do you know what I just heard about your friend?"
S: "Hold on a minute. Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be good idea to take a moment and filter what you’re going to say. Lets do the triple filter test. The first filter is TRUTH. Are you absolutely sure what you are about to tell me is true?"
A: "Well, no, actually I just heard about it…"
S: "All right. So you don’t really know if it’s true or not. Now, let’s apply the second filter, the filter of GOODNESS. What you are about to tell me about my friend is something good?"
A: "Umm, no, on the contrary…"
S: "So, you want to tell me something bad about my friend, but you’re not certain it’s true. You may still pass the test though, if you clear the last filter, lets apply the filter of USEFULNESS. Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?"
A: "No, not really."

S: "Well, if what you want to tell me is neither true, nor good, nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?"
